Colleen O’Malley
After I began participating in writing an architecture blog, I was
interested in researching what other blogs or websites are on the internet that
are similar to ours and may be very useful. Surprisingly, there are millions of
architecture blogs. Some of the blogs that I ran into are common websites that
I have heard of in the past, however, others were new. I thought I would share
the ones I have found and explain a little about each.
Coffee with an Architect- http://www.coffeewithanarchitect.com/
This blog is written by Jody Brown who is an architect himself.
However, his website does not focus on his individual work, but rather on the
stereotypes associated with architects, architecture, and the design process.
He writes his blog in a way that relates to may studying or working architects.
BUILD- http://blog.buildllc.com/
BUILD is actually run by an Architecture company named Build. Their
articles seem to be written as if each and every one puts their own
personalities into writing the articles. The website is very informative,
personal, interesting, and well organized!
ArchDaily- http://www.archdaily.com/
ArchDaily is one of the most highly trafficked architectural websites
in the world. This website is an online source of continuous information for a
growing community of thousands of architects searching for the latest
architectural news, projects, products, events, interviews, and competitions.
NOTCOT- http://www.notcot.org/
NOTCOT is a great site for designers to visit to see what other
designers are doing. This website is a visual filtration of ideas + aesthetics
+ amusements.
Design Milk- http://design-milk.com/
Design Milk provides your daily dose of vitamin D (that’s “D” for
Design!) Design Milk is an online magazine dedicated to modern design. It
offers what’s new in art, architecture, interior design, furniture and décor,
fashion, and technology.
Stuck in Studio - http://stuckinstudio.com/
Stuck in Studio is an architectural blog geared towards architecture
students and the excitement, opportunities and challenges unique to
architecture students.
Better Living Through Design- http://www.betterlivingthroughdesign.com/
Better Living through design is the best link for the most exciting
design products available online. Each link on the website has a direct link to
the retailer- so if you like it, you can buy it. The website features home
furnishings, design elements, gadgets, and accessories.
