St.
Louis Cardinals

Every architecture student needs some downtime
to get a break from graduate school.
This year several of my classmates and myself spent most our free time
(some of our work time) watching the Cardinals in the playoffs. Sorry Cubs fans and thanks Atlanta Braves. However this was anything but a stress
relief. Every game they played early in the playoffs seemed to come down to the
wire. Including Game 5 against the
Washington Nationals, where they rallied to score 4 runs in the top of the
ninth to come back and win. The next
series against the Giants started out great. Cards jumped out to a 3-1 series
lead and then choked it away to lose game 7. So the year ended with no trip to
the World Series.
While
the playoffs did cause a distraction from my studies, the St. Louis Cardinals
play an important role to my thesis. The
site for my thesis is located directly across the street from Busch
Stadium. How well the Cardinals do
effects the attendance rate which would have a direct impact on the site. Hopefully as this project grows the Cardinals
and this "mini-city" can develop a relationship that will benefit
each other. This "mini-city"
becomes a destination before and after the game.
